If you spend any amount of time with traders, you know that all they need to do their job is a Bloomberg terminal and Microsoft Excel. While there isn’t much someone not working for Bloomberg can do with the terminal, the way you set up spreadsheets is the difference between and a happy trader and a miserable one. The beauty of Excel is that you can be productive with very little knowledge and experience, but the flipside of it is that it is very easy to end up with the spreadsheet equivalent of spaghetti code.
